Talk of USA is a collection of sites aimed at addressing a need in small, local communities. Most towns have their state .gov site as well as a Chamber of Commerce page and sometimes other sites serving that community. At Talk of USA, we recognized several things missing. Rather than presenting a basic city directory listing, we wanted to go further and address these needs we found missing.
Users can create their own profile pages. They can also review businesses, upload pictures, socially share and do more. Most community sites do not have this feature. Furthermore, business owners can login and claim their own listings and upload pictures and additional information for their community followers. We do not require the businesses listed to have a physical location in that community. For instance, a locksmith may service that city but not have a physical storefront there. To prevent abuse or diluting listings, we have strong moderation and approval features in place.
All of our Talk of sites have in-depth blogs that are community centered and mostly written and moderated by local denizens. Our hope is to create a valuable place for members of the community and businesses to connect. We also have an Events section on every site. All sites have corresponding social sites (Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest and more).
Most importantly, these features are all provided at no cost to user or business owners.
